PETITION STATEMENT

We recognize that planes must fly somewhere and we are NOT asking to push the problem off to other neighborhoods.
 WE ARE ALL IN THIS TOGETHER. THE ONLY WAY TO GET RESULTS IS IN SOLIDARITY WITH OTHER NEIGHBORHOODS;

            WE PETITION:

•        For the FAA to study alternative flight routes over the Harbor and Expressways where possible as well as
         populated residential communities and in the interim,  distribute the arrival air traffic in equitable rotation
         schedules among all the available flight routes;

•        For the FAA to include the environmental impact on residential communities in ALL their studies pertaining
         to airport operations, as given to Air Carrier profitability, Industry economic growth, flight delays/congestion
         issues, and airline passengers.   As is required by the Clean Air Act (ACC) and the National Environmental Policy
         Act (NEPA);

•        For the FAA and Port Authority to establish clear guidelines issued to air controllers with regard to time limits
         on rotation schedules, eliminate the Instrument Landing System (ILS) approach with it's single ground track flight
         pattern, and institute clear curfew hours when aircrafts cross residential communities at altitudes lower than 3000 ft;

•        For the FAA to study Census bureau data with regard to impact on minority and low income communities such as
         prospect Heights, Fort Green, Clinton Hill and Bed-Sty who are all severely affected by the arriving traffic at
         1700 -1200 ft altitude.  As required by the Executive Order on Environmental Justice (EOEJ);
   
•        For the FAA to commence studies on the impact of the long term cumulative environmental effects on residential
         communities exposed to noise and pollution from severe low altitude air traffic;
   

               We, the undersigned, petition the FAA to address all the above issues and for immediate noise and air
               pollution reduction for all Kings residential communities that live under the current approach flight path
               into LaGuardia airport.
